It is important
to understand the automatic transmission doesn't get serviced as frequently as
the vehicles engine, (typically trans service intervals are approx every 50,000
miles), therefore visual inspections are important to monitor how well the trans
is performing. A simple check of the fluid's color can reveal whether the unit
has overheated, the condition of the internal parts- whether the wear is normal
or possibly the initial signs of a developing failure. The picture shown here is
considered normal wear. The magnet build-up is from clutch fiber wear but the
color of the fluid is clear and has good color. We recommend replacement of the
filter when servicing rather than flushing during service. This allows for a
visual inspection to confirm it's life expectancy. If you wait until you
have a shift problem to service your trans you waited too long. Servicing it now
can actually make it worse! |
